Building a Stronger Neighborhood, One Meeting at a Time: November 2025 Recap

Monday, November 10, 2025   |   6:30–7:45 PM   |   Kingdom Embassy Ministries, Mayflower Road

We had a fantastic turnout for our November meeting, with over 30 residents joining us in person and online. It was great to see familiar faces and welcome several new neighbors. A heartfelt thank-you to Kingdom Embassy Ministries for their continued hospitality and for being such wonderful partners in supporting our community gatherings.

Congratulations to Terence “Terry” Reading, elected as the new Riverview Neighborhood Representative, succeeding Patience McCartney. We’re grateful for your willingness to serve, Terry, and for Patience’s past dedication to the role.

Our Social Events Chair, Artemis Stoll, introduced guest speaker Brian N. Friedman, who shared updates on the Lambert’s Point Park Project. Brian’s leadership and passion have driven exciting improvements to this beloved green space, and residents were thrilled to learn more about what’s ahead for the park’s bright future. See Brian’s slide presentation below.

Board Updates:

  • Pooya Mohit, president, invited residents to join the Elizabeth River Project’s Shoreline Buffer Planting on Monday, November 17 (10 AM – 2 PM) along the Lafayette Branch. All supplies will be provided—just bring your muck boots, gloves, sunscreen, and a refillable water bottle. Participants can register at events.humanitix.com/host/elizabethriverproj to help restore the shoreline habitat and protect the health of the Lafayette River.
  • Gene Ward, vice president, is working to secure guest appearances from ODU Athletics for future meetings, bringing local sports and community engagement even closer together.
  • Stephanie Clark, secretary, reminded residents to report streetlight outages through the city’s online portal or Norfolk Cares. Several lights have already been logged for repair—thank you to everyone helping keep CPRV well-lit and safe.
  • Artemis Stoll, social events chair, shared a full slate of upcoming community gatherings. Felini’s Happy Hour in December (date TBA) will be announced soon on social media. Holiday refreshments and décor will highlight the December General Meeting. The Monarch Pantry Food Drive continues this season—please donate nonperishable goods. The film The Librarians will be showing at The Naro, featuring librarians taking a stand against book bans. And on December 27, Porchella returns, CPRV’s beloved front-porch music festival, closing out the year with music and community cheer.
  • Dave Wolfe, treasurer, shared that the civic league’s financial position remains strong, with continued growth and minimal routine expenses thanks to consistent membership and community support.
  • Krissy Mohit, media chair, announced that the “Pets of CPRV” 2026 Calendar is coming soon. Pre-sales will open shortly, and calendars will make perfect gifts—with all proceeds supporting civic league programming.
  • Chrissy Herbert, crime prevention chair, continues to coordinate with Officer Dunthorn to ensure neighborhood safety questions are heard and addressed each month.
  • Lisa Perlmutter, welcome committee chair, reminded residents to email welcome@cprv.net
if they know of new renters or homeowners in Colonial Place or Riverview. The welcome team wants every neighbor—owner or renter—to feel part of the CPRV family.
  • Terry Reading, community improvement and environmental chair, celebrated another successful Crepe Myrtle Pruning Event, where volunteers pruned more than 200 trees across the neighborhood. Special thanks to the Norfolk Master Gardeners, City Forester Steven Traylor, and his team for their continued partnership and support.

Thank you to everyone who attended and continues to make Colonial Place and Riverview stronger, greener, and more connected. Stay tuned for December’s holiday meeting details, event updates, and volunteer opportunities at cprv.net or on our social media pages.

Watch the last meeting.

CPRV Neighbors Toast to Six Months of Happy Hours at Perro Blanco https://cprv.net/cprv-neighbors-toast-to-six-months-of-happy-hours-at-perro-blanco/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=cprv-neighbors-toast-to-six-months-of-happy-hours-at-perro-blanco Mon, 10 Nov 2025 16:16:34 +0000 https://cprv.net/?p=3636

CPRV Neighbors Toast to Six Months of Happy Hours at Perro Blanco

Article Provided by Krissy Mohit, Media Committee Chair

The Colonial Place Riverview Civic League marked its sixth consecutive monthly Community Happy Hour on Wednesday, November 5th—this time at Perro Blanco, our neighborhood’s go-to Tequila & Mezcal spot.

What started as a fun idea from Artemis Stoll, our incredible Social Events Committee Chair, has blossomed into a monthly tradition that truly embodies the spirit of CPRV. Artemis envisioned these gatherings as a way to spotlight local businesses while giving neighbors a chance to connect, laugh, and build friendships—and she’s delivered in every way. Her dedication over the years has played a huge role in helping our community grow closer and more vibrant.

This month’s happy hour had it all—a lively lounge atmosphere, friendly staff, delicious food, and a fantastic turnout. We saw new faces, familiar friends, and even neighbors who hadn’t been to an event in a while. From tacos and nachos to tequila and good conversation, it was the kind of evening that reminds us why we love calling CPRV home.

Next month, we’ll keep the fun rolling with our December Happy Hour at Fellini’s (date TBD). Follow us on social media for updates—and come raise a glass with your neighbors on future happy hour events!

We love being your neighbor!
