CPRV Civic League Meeting       12DEC22   1830-1925 (6:30-7:25 pm)     Kingdom Embassy (no online)

President opened the meeting at 1830/6:30 p.m.

Refreshments are available in the back.  Donations, to a food bank, will be accepted tonight and through 21DEC22 at President’s house, 715 Carolina Avenue. 

By-laws change – changes shown in the December 2022 newsletter – all digital January 2023.  Motion/2nd/discussion – unanimously approved – sign up at cprv.net.

Guest speaker #1 – Sean Washington, Interim Director of the Department of Economic Development, expanded upon Commercial Corridor Program outlined in the December 2022 newsletter.

Guest speaker #2 – Robert/Lorin – hoping to get conditional use permit to offer natural remedies and operate “The Hive Hemps & Wellness” at 4215 Granby Street.  Currently operating locally. 

Social – introduced social committee.  Planning Jan – Mar events.  Reach out at events@cprv.net.

Media – Website evolving – TJ’s offering a $20 drawing for those that sign up online for the newsletter.  Expanding to include education, dog park/lost dog, and looking for community articles or pictures.  Reach out at media@cprv.net.

VP – Community cleanup/pruning.  Reach out at environment@cprv.net.

Treasurer – transition from paper to media has reduced income but also expenses.  Colley Self Storage unit – if have any Civic League items, reach out at treasurer@cprv.net/board@cprv.net.

CPRV Treasurer’s Report -DEC 2022

Crime Prevention – Reporting – a reminder to report ALL incidents so we can track demand.  Light outages (safety) – see reporting details in December 2022 newsletter. 

President

  • Maury HS – voting delayed – survey still open.
  • City email – Columbus/Lavalette – questioning 4-way stop.
  • Riverview – needs a stop sign.  Motion accepted.
  • Riverview issue – new business – Dominion underground/easement in yards vs city spaces.  Five (5) large transformers in the front yard.  Eye sore.  Send literature to President.  The same folks came through Colonial Place.  Telephone/cable easements in backyards.  Power lines – underground/waterproof.  The city has poles on the property – why not underground?

Riverview rep – looking for a Riverview rep for an elected position.

November 2025 CPRV Civic League Meeting Recap

Our November Civic League meeting brought together more than 30 neighbors at Kingdom Embassy Ministries for an evening of community updates, celebration, and connection. From welcoming new attendees and electing Riverview’s new representative, Terry Reading, to hearing from Brian N. Friedman on the future of Lambert’s Point Park, the night was filled with great energy and momentum. Residents also heard updates on neighborhood safety, upcoming social events, and exciting initiatives like the Pets of CPRV 2026 Calendar and Elizabeth River Project Shoreline Planting. As the holidays approach, CPRV continues to grow in both spirit and participation—thank you to everyone who helps make this neighborhood thrive!
