Commander and Mrs. Leonard assumed ownership of this home in early 2000 from the Dalla Mura family. Features include: the original hardwood floors, the original windows (some stained glass), light fixtures that work on either electricity or gas, and a completely dry basement complete with wine cellar. Enhancing the property is a Victorian garden with an ivy-covered gazebo, a goldfish pond, antique roses, and other traditional herbs and historic plant varieties.

Gilbert R. Swink, a prominent Norfolk attorney, lived in this brick home at the corner of Rhode Island and Mayflower Road. Behind the house are lovely gardens, still maintained by the present owners.

Newport Avenue: Built in 1906


George W. Dillard, president of the Sterling Place Company, built this two-and-a-half story brick home with four fireplaces, seven bedrooms, and three baths in 1906. The current owners say it is a great house complete with a dry basement, hardwood floors, and the original windows. [More on Mr. Dillard]

Mayflower Road: Built in 1954


Tudor home overlooking Knitting Mill Creek with raised rear as part of the original construction. Among its amenities are closets that automatically light up when opened and hardwood floors.
