Aladdin Kit Homes, like Sears, were sold through a mail-order catalog. Unlike Sears, Aladdin didn't sell anything but kit homes. Aladdin is credited as being the first company to offer entire kit homes through mail order, issuing their first catalog in 1906. The company went out of business in 1981, selling about 75,000 kit homes during their 75 years of business. Aladdin was based in Bay City, Michigan and operated a large mill in Wilmington, NC which is one of the reasons we have so many Aladdin kit homes in Norfolk.
