Gordon-Van Tine started selling kit homes in 1910 and stopped in 1946. Their total sales numbers were probably 40,000 to 50,000. Gordon-Van Tine was in Davenport, Iowa, but according to architectural historian and co-author Dale Wolicki, Gordon-Van Tine may have had an agreement with Aladdin, subcontracting to use their mill in North Carolina.
